Fisherman's flag "Tairyo Bata" Dyeing Experience

"Tairyo Bata" is a fisherman's flag for their good catch. Have you seen the colorful flags? You may see them at some Izakaya restaurants as decoration. Dye your own "Tairyo Bata"!

• Meet the 4th Generation craftsman, Mr. Kamezaki, who inherits the craftmanship from 1869, and learn the traditional dyeing techniques. 

• After the experience, enjoy your special Japanese lunch/early dinner at their Japanese-style guest house.

Have you seen the colorful flag in Izakaya restaurants or on the fisherman's boat? Did you imagine how it's designed and dyed? Each icon has a meaning. Learn about those icons and dye your flag as you like! The experience will take around 2 hours and following that, you will have a Japanese meal at the guest house. Talk to the craftsman and learn their history and passion!

Itinerary

Meet your English-speaking guide at the site or the station. Your guide will teach you what Tairyo bata is and how special this craft is for the local fisherman.

Visit the factory and meet a traditional Japanese dyeing craftsman. The craftsman will explain the techniques of how to dye the cloth. You will choose your favorite color and dye your "Tairyo Bata".

After dyeing, you will have a lunch box / early dinner box at their Japanese-style guest house.

Your product will send to your hotel in Japan during your stay. If your departure is close to the day, we will arrange to send it to your country (extra cost will be charged).
