You may wonder why people are living on an active volcano. Throughout this tour, you will head to the volcano “Sakurajima” and learn why. Your first stop is the factory that produces plate items from volcanic lava. Or you may visit the pottery shop next to the factory. Then, you will head to Black Vinegar Farm. There are thousands of cray pots on the farm and vinegar is naturally fermented in the pots. The view of the pots is astonishing. After getting a hint of the fermentation process with “KOJI”, you will head to a restaurant for “KOJI Pork” lunch. What is KOJI? It is the fundamental mold for all fermentation of Japanese cuisine. What does it look like? You can learn more after lunch. Then, you will get back to the hotel and will visit a brewery that produces good-quality beer. They are trying to perform a sustainable business by using local ingredients. At the finale of the tour, you will have a special dinner table at SHIROYAMA HOTEL Kagoshima “Kagoshima Gastronomy Night” at the restaurant “Shisui”. The head chef will give a performance next to your table. The omakase meal is made from Kagoshima ingredients which you can enjoy at this table only.
