TABITTO Travel Kagoshima

Exclusive Morning Fish Market Auction Tour

Exclusive Morning Fish Market Auction Tour

Tour type

The tour resumes from April! An Unfiltered Glimpse into the Heart of Kagoshima’s Soul—Limited Access to the Professional World of the "Sea’s Bounty." Don't miss it. It will be available only by November!

Highlight

  • A Forbidden Realm: Step inside a high-functioning industrial facility strictly closed to the general public.
  • VIP Access: Enter only with special government permits and an expert local guide.
  • The Theatre of Trade: Witness the raw energy of live tuna and local seafood auctions from an intimate distance.
  • Small-Group Exclusivity: Limited to a handful of guests per day to preserve the authentic industrial atmosphere.

This is not a tourist attraction. This is the Kagoshima Fish Market, a vital industrial hub where the rhythm of the city begins before dawn.

Nestled between the volcanic backdrop of Sakurajima and the deep, nutrient-rich waters of Kinko Bay, this market serves as the gateway for Japan’s most diverse seafood. Under normal circumstances, these gates are locked to outsiders to protect the precision and safety of the trade.

On this Premium Tour, you are granted rare, behind-the-scenes access. Led by a specialist guide, you will navigate the bustling docks as the "morning's catch" arrives. You won’t just observe; you will feel the electric atmosphere of the Seri (Auction). Watch as master wholesalers use a secret language of hand signals and shouts to claim the finest yellowtail, snapper, and giant bluefin tuna.

This is a raw, authentic, and sensory journey into the industry that feeds Kagoshima. Because we prioritize the integrity of the market’s operations, daily entries are strictly capped.

Itinerary

The journey begins at the market gate at 6:30am, where you will meet your expert guides. This is a restricted industrial facility, and your entry is granted only through a special permit. As you step past the threshold, you leave the tourist path behind and enter a world dedicated entirely to the professional trade of the sea’s bounty.

Once inside, you will find yourself in the middle of a high-functioning workplace. You’ll witness the "morning's catch" arriving at the docks and feel the electric atmosphere of the Seri (Auction). From an intimate yet respectful distance, you will see the master wholesalers engaged in the rhythmic, lightning-fast negotiations that define the seafood industry. Your guide will decode the secret hand signals and the unique energy that powers this vital facility.

As the peak of the auction subsides, the guided portion of the tour concludes. But the experience doesn't have to end there. To truly appreciate the scale of what you’ve witnessed, we recommend staying for a Fish Market Breakfast.

While breakfast is not included in the tour cost, there is no more authentic way to finish your morning than by visiting the nearby diners. Tasting the very fish you saw auctioned just moments ago—the ultimate "pier-to-table" experience—is the perfect finale to your behind-the-scenes adventure.
