Kagoshima city is one of the only cities in Japan which has an active volcano right in the heart of the city. The active volcano “Sakurajima” is a symbol of Kagoshima. The locals actually feel relieved upon its small eruptions from time to time, as it is seen as releasing its energy of the big magma’s movement and they can feel the power of nature right amongst their daily lives.

The active volcano gives us fertile ground and combined with the warm climate, makes Kagoshima an agriculture powerhouse in Japan. Alongside the volcano, the water is rich in mineral contents making it a fertile ground for fish as well. If you learn about the volcano, please choose the English Speaking Guide for your experience. Choose from two courses
1. Hot spring hunting course
You will land on a hidden beach to find a natural hot spring. The instructor will guide you to where you can find the spot.

2. Isolated island landing course
You will paddle to a small island that has a beautiful Sakurajima view.

Itinerary

Meet your TABITTO Mate at the Sakurajima Ferry Pier on Sakurajima side.
The Mate will share the introduction of Sakurajima volcano on the way to meet Kagoshima Kayaks’ instructor.
After meeting the instructor, he will take you to the starting point of the kayak experience.

We can bet that it is not the same kayak tour that you have experienced at other places. This is the only location where you can paddle next to the active volcano!
Enjoy your paddling in the bay. If you like onsen, you can take after the experience. It is just next to the kayaking base.

Please wear a sports outfit and bring a change of clothes. You will get wet!
Bring a water bottle, too.

Please check our cancellation policy.– If the tour is cancelled due to bad weather conditions, a notice will be sent by email before 6 PM (JST) 1 day prior to the tour. The guests will be able to reschedule/choose an alternative day or the tour fee paid will be fully refunded.
